Operation Christmas Child

2 Corinthians 9:11

“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

I had the wonderful opportunity to serve at the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child warehouse on Tuesday, and it was an eye-opening experience. I have always been a part of OCC in the giving aspect, but I have never served in the warehouse. To see the number of shoeboxes that were given was astounding. Knowing that millions of children all over the world will receive joy because of a 10-15 dollar gift gives some perspective. Also that my hands touched so many of those items that will bring happiness in the name of God was very special. This verse in 2 Corinthians tells us to bless others so that the blessing we give bring glory to God!

While Americans all over the nation will be arguing over where they will spend the holidays or what is on the menu, children from these villages will line up and wait for hours just to get a shoebox of small gifts. Let’s remember those kids around the world that anxiously await these gifts every year during this Thanksgiving season. Let's hold our families close and appreciate the time of fellowship and food that many others will not get to have. No matter if the turkey is dry or dressing is burnt on the bottom, share love with your family this season.
