2 Cor. 4:16-17

2 Corinthians 4:16-17 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. Paul writes to remind believers that through their trials, their response should reflect their eternal promise. Verse 16 starts with encouragement, “do not lose heart.” He recognizes that our physical bodies deteriorate with time, but our spirit should be in constant growth. Renewing our spirit each day by reading God’s word and growing our relationship with Him should strengthen us within. Verse 17 Paul reminds believers of their eternal promise, Heaven. Our troubles here on earth are short-lived and the recognition of eternity with Christ should outweigh our pain. Sometimes we need to be reminded of what is at the finish line to help us run the race. Life is short; eternity is long, and the reward is great. When life gets you down, remind yourself of the promise of heaven. No, it isn't going to help you pay your bills, or keep your business from going under, or save you marriage; but it will give a perspective of the present to your future in Christ. Remembering WHO we serve can help us THROUGH our pain, and INTO who God wants us to be. Your trials and tribulations are achieving earthly stripes and ETERNAL GLORY!
