No Excuses, Trust God

No Excuses, Trust God

Exodus 4:1-17

In this passage, we find Moses directly after his experiencing of God through the burning bush. Moses is excellent at making excuses, and here he asks God, “What if they don't listen to me?” God answers by showing him two “mini-miracles.” God turns his staff into a snake and makes leprosy appear on Moses’ hand and then go away. Then God says if that doesn't work I will turn water from the Nile River into blood. God shows Moses the power he possesses and STILL Moses makes more excuses. He tells God he doesn't speak well and even goes on to beg Him to choose someone else. The Lord reminds Moses that he created the mouth from which he would speak, and he had complete control of the situation.

Moses’ circumstance seemed impossible to him. He was more focused on the size of the task in front of him rather than the power of the God standing behind him. Moses had to learn the purpose God had for him was greater than the opposition he would face along the way. Many times we feel just like Moses. We focus more on “what will other people say,” or “why me,” rather than how God can use us for His glory. How many times have we experienced a moment where we felt God work in our lives but were reluctant to share it because of those same thoughts? Moses’ obedience ultimately lead to the freedom of an entire nation. Don't let excuses keep you from fulfilling God’s purpose for His kingdom. Trust in his power and purpose for your life! Share with someone how God has impacted your life.
