Joy comes in the Morning

Psalm 30:4-5

4. Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;

praise his holy name.

5. For his anger lasts only a moment,

but his favor lasts a lifetime;

weeping may endure for the night,

but rejoicing comes in the morning.

In this passage of Scripture, the Psalmist commands to “Sing the praises of the Lord!” Understanding that God is our creator and ruler of heaven and earth DESERVES recognition. God gives us strength to wake each morning and work to provide for our families and to build relationships with those around us to have peace here on earth. Recognizing His power and provision should lead us to sing His praise.

In the Bible, the action of singing to the Lord is only second to prayer. God’s word commands over and over for us to proclaim His greatness through song!

In verse 5, we see God is angered by our sin, but only for a moment. Just as an earthly father is upset with his child when they disobey, so is our heavenly father. But even in those moments of failure, a father’s love never changes for his child, just as God’s love never changes for us.

In our moments of weakness, we are ashamed and typically beat ourselves up. God wants us to know that when we experience pain or struggles, they are temporary. Our troubles are seasonal here on Earth, but joy comes in the peace we find in a relationship with Christ and the eternal hope of heaven.
